Is Botox dangerous?

Botulinum toxin is a cause of concern to people who are ill-informed. This medication has been used in medicine for over 35 years and in cosmetics for the past 15 years.

Different types of Botox have been tested by the French Drug Agency and the European Drug Agency. They have received authorization in the treatment of a number of debilitating diseases where they have worked with spectacular results, notably in neurology.

The doses used in cosmetic indications are very much lower the normal medical doses. Consequently, no side effect or allergy to Botox used in the treatment of wrinkles has been reported in the literature. To the contrary, their exceptional efficacy has been demonstrated.

Is there any risk of muscle blockage after a Botox injection?

This risk is not directly related to the molecule in Botox but rather to incorrect of Botox, injected into an inappropriate muscle. Seeing a qualified plastic surgeon ensures that this person has the skills needed to decide the ideal Botox dose to inject, in other words the dose corresponding to the patient and the desired result.

Can wrinkles be permanently treated with a Botox injection?

There is no permanent Botox. However, there are volumising injections and so-called « permanent » fillers. Such products carry the risk of causing allergies and if an allergy occurs, the patient will have to endure a purulent skin condition for the rest of their life.

It is therefore preferable to use other products chosen by the plastic surgeon for their effect and duration as a function of the result desired by the patient.
